Daruma doll and brush

A Daruma doll, with one eye colored in, and a calligraphy brush. The doll is made of papier-maché. It is one of the most famous objects from Japan. The calligraphy brush is used throughout East Asia, but this specific example comes from China. Made out of wood and hair, it is used as a tool for writing.

    The daruma doll was bought in the Netherlands, but actually originates from Japan, whereas the calligraphy brush was bought in China and brought to the Netherlands.
