Rowing Blind at the Hollandia
On the 23rd of april 2022, Rowing Blind raced at the Hollandia Roeiwedstrijden, a rowing regatta at the Bosbaan in Amstelveen. Four Rowing Blind boats fought for the win. It was amazing for the buddies and participants to experience what it’s like to row such a race at the Bosbaan. Unfortunately for Rowing Blind Leiden, Utrecht won the race and went home with the medal, but it was an unforgettable day!
After reading this story, I hope Rowing Blind can be an example to demonstrate that inclusivity doesn’t have to be rocket science. For instance, by thinking creatively about simple solutions such as strategically placing rubber bands or actually feeling the boat. Because of the effort and openness of everyone who cooperated this year, people felt welcome to come and row at our club. This way we ensured that no less than 14 people have become enthusiastic about the sport of rowing! It is because of the rowing buddies that participants learned that they could easily participate in the seeing rowing community, and that’s simply amazing. Our goal, the goal of Rowing Blind, has been achieved.
