Nothing is what it seems
The bunker currently lies hidden beneath the overgrowth, which makes it barely noticeable. However, the ivy was not so prominent when the bunker was being used in World War II. You would think that a bunker in the middle of a residential area would be a bit indiscreet.
The Germans had a nifty solution to this problem. To conceal the true function of the building, the bunker was surrounded by a brick wall, fake windows and a roof. It was almost indistinguishable from the surrounding houses, especially when seen from above. This was particularly effective in avoiding aerial strikes by the Allies.
