The Trending Traders

This inrō is a wooden box made of five compartments traditionally worn by Japanese men by being hung from a sash at the waist. Inrō were used to hold medicines and small items, but they were also a fashionable accessory and were beautifully decorated. This inrō’s decoration tells us a multi-sided story of fashion trends and fascination with the outside world.
