Embroidered Red Slippers

A pair of mules made from silk, leather and cloth. Estimated around the late 18th- early 19th century, originating from China.

Made from brightly colored silk and striking red leather, these slippers are quite eye-catching. The silk has been embroidered with a fretwork border, flowers, vines and birds. The design is also decorated with sequins. The slippers are about 21 cm in length, 7 cm wide and 6.5 cm deep. They are currently part of the collection of the Rijksmuseum in the Netherlands.
