- Makara Pendant
As previously seen in the markers, the Makara can be seen through the lenses of the elements of cosmic existence.
As previously seen in the markers, the Makara can be seen through the lenses of the elements of cosmic existence. They are there to forge the pathway into the plot twist that the Makara pendant is alive, has an active agency, and has a relationship with the wearer. The last element would be to blow life into it.
From its glory of being such an auspicious object, there is a sadness to it when looked at in the context of the Rijksmuseum. It feels lost in the Asian Pavilion without taking into account its European design or the Makaras at the entrance of the pavilion.
The Teutonic Order in Vienna has been in possession of a similar Indo-Portugese pendant-whistles. Makaras are seen as earring pairs of Hindu deities or guardians of temples. Could this pendant be similar to the pair of Makara-shaped pendants? Hopefully, the pendants housed in the Teutonic Order in Vienna and the Makara pendant will reunite one day to talk.
