Say cheese!

This photo from around 1912 shows one woman standing and three women sitting on chairs on the pavement outside café de Stadt Hamburg in Amsterdam. They are smiling while looking at the camera.

The café was located at Zeedijk 29 and was part of the De Wallen district. To kill time between clients, some prostitutes dragged their chairs outside to watch the Amsterdam traffic. This is probably also the case in this photograph.
