This medal from 1561 shows the famous artist and architect Michelangelo. At this point in his life Michelangelo was known and admired all over Europe and worked for kings and popes alike. Yet despite his incredible fame, Michelangelo seemed to be rather shy and rarely allowed his fans to see his face.
