Hidden in plain sight

The material world around us can tell us a lot. Without us always realizing it. In the end, we all look at our surroundings and the objects in them differently. Yet sometimes we can look at certain places and things the same way. For example, women can have a similar view, while men are unaware of anything. The places and things in this zone all have one thing in common: women's sense of unsafety. How does living in a world where you routinely experience violence change your outlook? How do these places and things relate to women's sense of unsafety? And what can we learn from them?
The stories in this zone were created under the supervision of Anne van der Linden for the annual global campaign Orange the World. This campaign calls attention to the problem of violence against women and girls. The theme this year is prevention and how bystanders can contribute. The motto: "Everyone can do something to prevent and combat violence against women." The stories here are meant to raise awareness, because once you see it, you can't avoid it. I'm a supporter, are you?
