Sarong
The sarong is a pencil skirt of which the length of the cloth is shorter than that of the kain panjang (approx. 250 cm x 117 cm). This is also mentioned as an example on the advertising cloth of the Leidsche Katoenmaatschappij. The ends are then sewn together to produce the tube shape.
The image shows (Indo-)European women at the beginning of the twentieth century (fig. 14). They are dressed in what was then a domestic dress, which was based on the sarong and kebaya that the Javanese and Chinese-Indonesian ladies also wore. Image 15 shows an example of a sarong stamped by cotton printing company Vlisco in Helmond.
