The mended heart
Nastagio discovers that this event occurs every Friday, and hatches a plan. He invites his family and the woman he loves over for dinner in the woods. During the feast, the spirits of the woman and the knight arrive, and the killing scene plays out in front of the horrified guests. After killing the woman, the knight turns to the guests and tells them the same story he told Nastagio, to which Aica realizes that this would be her fate if she keeps rejecting Nastagio’s advances. The ending is therefore predictable: Nastagio proposes to Aica, who accepts, and they lived happily ever after.
