Mooing and mimicking

Looking at the picture, you can almost hear the "Moo!" coming out of the cow's mouth. And, who of us didn't try to mimic the mooing of a cow?

We humans can mimic many things around us: we copy sounds that we hear, we can dance as a swan, and crawl like a tiger. We also mimic things in people we admire: something in their walk, talk and gesticulations.

Now, because in Hamar society cattle make up such an important part of their lives - part of the family even - people mimic cattle as a token of the intimate bond between them. One way to celebrate your love for your favorite cow is to dance in honor of the animal, mimicking one specific asset of the cow…
