Storyline
Tombstone for a toddler
This small plaque commemorates a very young inhabitant of Carthage. He was only two years and four months old when he passed away. His relatives went to a stonemason, who cut this inscription on a small, yet costly, piece of marble.
The Latin inscription, in elegant letters, states the name of the boy (including that of his father) and his age. In the last two lines, the stone speaks directly to the reader, and therefore in a way to us.
