Beautiful Ladies in blue

The earlier fragment, together with some other parts that survived, was restored by Emile Gillieron in 1927 to this ‘Ladies in Blue’ fresco. The restoration clearly shows the original fragments - all at the bottom half and an especially large fragment of the women to the right. There were also some other fragments more towards the left that did not fit with this larger original fragment and therefore became part of other women.

The fresco restoration shows three women looking to the left or right. They are wearing blue-yellow jackets, which are the original colors still visible on these ancient fragments. Their heads, hair, necks, and wrists are excessively decorated by jewelry. Although the jewelry is repainted by the restorer, they are still visible on the middle woman in the original fragment. The hands of the women are raised above their shoulders. Are they perhaps walking or dancing?
