Register of Patients
The V for Johanna
story by Remko Prins , Emma Verweij
This story starts with a patient register of the Binnengasthuis in Amsterdam. A simple item from the archives at first glance, but the layout, the names, and the stamps lead us to the hospital beds, halls, and lives of the patients. Among the names on this page, we find Johanna van der Meiden who was admitted to the hospital several times. Her profession came with great risks and this document is proof of that. This story is part of the research project PROSPECT: The Spectacle of Prostitution, supervised by Marion Pluskota and Fresco Sam-Sin.
