Stela of Ipu

In ancient Egypt funerary stelas were set up in order to remember a deceased person and give praises to the gods. It was also a way for the deceased to ensure the receiving of regular offerings in the afterlife. The stela of Ipu contains scenes commonly used on stelas in ancient Egypt, such as giving offerings to gods and family gatherings. However, on the base of this stela there is a scene that is rarely ever represented on stelas: a funerary procession.
