A questionable celebration?

On Friday October 8th, 1982, on behalf of the Eli Lilly and Company dr. Cornelius Pettinga gifted a small box to the Diabetes Vereniging Nederland (Dutch Diabetes Association). The box and doctor came over from Indianapolis, Indiana, and contains two vials of insulin. The box was gifted to celebrate sixty years of diabetes treatment, but was this really something worth celebrating?
