This is my story
These objects inspire stories that I would not normally share, because there might not be a reason to and/or they might be deemed too personal. Using these objects and related stories, I can show you a side of me for which there isn’t always a time or place. Take, for example, my medical background, mental health, childhood fascination that became the focus of my early adulthood, my grandmother’s legacy, comfy pirate attire, and indulging my creativity on unsuspecting cutlery.
You cannot deduce these narratives from the looks of me or the aids I require to function on a day-to-day basis. It is important to me to function, not like a normal person would (because what, or who, is that exactly?) but to the best of my abilities. Since my diagnosis a decade ago, that’s what I have been doing and what I will be doing, hopefully for many years to come.
