Snippets and Cardboard

Fig 1: Text example

These are snippets of paper. Shaped into three large bead-like elements, they sit on a string made out of cardboard. Part of the display is a framed piece of paper that resonates with the snippets covered in writings that are integrated into the sculptural object on the wall. The pieces of paper are painted white and on top of the paint the artist kept writing the old song text "Raindrops keep falling on my head", therapeutically, to help her forget her worries.

The artist, Chu Cheuk-wai Margaret, makes use of the two main characteristics of paper: its potential to serve as a surface that carries visual information, and its materiality that can be used to build three-dimensional bodies in space.
