This is Gijs

Meet Gijs Huizinga, a 22-year-old self-employed artist from The Hague, the Netherlands. Gijs has an educational background in arts and design, and currently works for The Hague-based club PIP. Aside from his work as a designer for PIP, Gijs makes a lot of paintings and creates sculptures with clay, which he posts on Instagram or which he sells. But there is one ‘artwork’ that has never seen the light of day until now: his bedroom.

At the time of our visit, Gijs was a mere two weeks away from moving out of his parents’ house to live on his own. The room is now emptied out, so our venture is also into a relic that is no more. Take a dive into the playfully profound and intricate relationship between Gijs and his room.
