Storyline

Shell play

This story is about a plaque that was made from mother-of-pearl. It shows a complex European design. Made in early eighteenth-century Guangzhou, it resembles the hundreds of game counters produced for export in southern China. This story is part of the Ocean Objects series, supported and funded by the Research Grants Council Hong Kong (GRF 12603017).
