Pot

This is a hollow cone made of clay. Around the bottom, it is slightly blackened, which may indicate heating. However, its shape is unlike that of a normal cooking pot. It is broken off at the top and there do not seem to be any obvious traces of anything inside it.

There’s another one that is quite similar, but pointier. Do you have any idea what it may have been used for?

This cone was not collected by prof. Böhl himself, but came into the collection of the NINO at a later point. Unfortunately, though, we have no idea when and by whom, and so apart from its inventory number, we have not been able to locate any information about the possible provenance of this object. We encountered the same problem with some of the other objects we will discuss in the next steps. While Böhl himself, in the 1930s, kept a catalog of the objects he collected, it has not been extended with all objects that came into the collection afterwards, so the provenance of many recently acquired objects unfortunately remains a mystery…
