Roses can be found on the edges of the box and reflect Napoleon’s wife’s love for roses. This flower can often be spotted in Napoleonic design patterns (Fig. 4). Particularly after his second marriage to Marie-Louise of Austria in 1810, roses were supposed to allude to her youth.
