Materials

In addition to jade, many different kinds of materials were used for the fabrication of these plaques: jade in varying colors, along with other precious stones such as amber, gold, ivory, rhinoceros horn, porcelain, enamelware, agarwood - the list of materials goes on.

The exquisite material and distinct shapes of the plaque were complemented with decorative carvings outside of the central pane of the tablet.
