A recognizable welcome
Two cats are waving our way. When entering a Chinese-Indonesian (Chin-Ind) restaurant in the Netherlands, it would almost be surprising if there was no cat waving you in. That these cats are not really Chinese but find their roots in Japanese culture, does not seem to matter. To the Dutch audience, they belong to the Chin-Ind restaurant experience.
Although each of them is unique, Chin-Ind restaurants in the Netherlands share many elements that make them a recognizable part of the Dutch gastronomic tradition. De Chinese Pagode is no exception; while everything is uniquely executed and done with a personal touch, the staff of the restaurant have to be thoughtful to represent enough of the Chin-Ind folklore in order to satisfy their customers.
