Toner t'iá
My friend pointed to the outline of the cow profile. "That", he said, "is a better example of t'iá”. Then the penny dropped: the outline of the profile was printed on paper. The black (in my view) ink printed on the smooth paper by the toner had a certain sheen, whereas the black pencil lacked this particular sheen. The black color, in combination with the sheen makes up the term t'iá. T'iá is also your computer or phone screen, when switched off. Or even better, the coat of the tʼiá cow illustrated above.
I could have never imagined that so much variation could be seen in what I always perceived as something having the same color, that is, black. Through the lenses of Hamar, the world looks so colorful, variegated and patterned like the coats of the cows.
