The miniature cups are decorated with crosses. Though they may seem like simple crosses, some scholars see them as non-figurative plant motifs. In Minoan times (ca. 3500-1350 BCE) these styles were already highly popular as decoration on ceramic vessels. The popularity of these styles continued in Mycenaean times, although the floral designs became more linear and abstract.
