Judge the book by its cover?

The book bind is made of brown leather that has become discolored over the years. Gold decorations have been impressed and applied to the cover and spine. The center of the front cover shows a medallion with flower-and-leaf decorations and a cross within. Perhaps this stems from the Christian motivation to help the accused to become better people. The border decorations consist of beautiful scrolls surrounded by vines and grapes. Beyond that, another black border runs around the cover. The spine is similarly decorated. There is no text on the binding. On the back cover, the same decoration as appears on the front cover is imprinted in leather, but without gold.
