About us
This website is part of the Things That Talk Foundation. Things —the objects, tools, and the material world around us— tell our stories. Without them, we would lose track of what makes us who we are. Their stories tell our stories. The talk. With Things That Talk you will tell the best stories with and about objects. That is our mission. Why? Because objects matter, and because our world revolves around strong storytelling. We are your partner for exhibitions, teaching, and for storytelling online, in print, audio or video.
By focussing on the life of objects and on the stories they have to tell, Things That Talk will help you hit three targets in one shot:
- By uncovering the stories behind objects, you will not only better understand the world around you, but also better understand yourself;
- Learning with objects increases your sense of wellbeing; creating an atmosphere that allows for deeper learning, and more constructive conversations;
- Objects are a tangible medium that help you become a better storyteller. People that know how to tell a story are the people that people will want to listen to.
And that is why we created Things That Talk: our team will open your eyes to the material world and teach you how to tell better stories. We have clients in the domains of education, heritage, culture and research. Hire us for workshops, lectures, storytelling events, exhibitions design, consultancy. We are your partner in telling your stories with objects. Clients that trust us with their object stories include Museum De Lakenhal, The Royal Asian Art Society in the Netherlands, Leiden University, University of Macau, Leiden University Libraries, The Courtauld Institute of Art, Atria Institute on Gender Equality and Women's History, Hong Kong Baptist University Academy of Visual Arts.
