With the respirator come the goggles. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus in 2019, the designer has developed designs for special gear to deal with the pandemic: googles, respirators, lift-button pressers and mask holders. They can all easily be made from discarded packaging materials through the use of scissors, staplers and cutters.

Fong gives lectures on his creative practices and offers clear step-by-step instructions with photos and videos tutorials online. In the videos, he presents detailed insights into his practice and a life surrounded by household utensils made from upcycled materials. Fong stresses that his designs cannot completely prevent the virus. He aims to find a temporary method to cover the mouth in the absence of a mask and to protect the eyes if necessary.
