The Practical Aspects
Until now, we have mostly looked at symbolic meanings, but this pectoral was of course an object with a purpose that belonged to a real person. So let’s find out more about the practical aspects while looking at the pectoral from the other side.
This piece of jewelry was made of precious materials fit for a princess. It belonged to Princess Sithathoryunet, who lived during the Middle Kingdom. It was found in a niche in her underground tomb. Because her tomb was found next to the pyramid of Senwosret II, it is speculated that she was his daughter.
