Necklace from Achaemenid Iran

Acquired indirectly by the Metropolitan Museum in New York City, the exact provenance, context, and circumstances of this beautifully detailed necklace are unsure. However, this enables us to ask all kinds of interesting questions. What is the image of an Egyptian deity doing in the middle of an Achaemenid Persian object? Why is it enclosed between plaques of horses and what do they signify? By looking at these and different elements, it is possible to get one step closer to the context of this necklace.
