Epigraphic bands

The palace has been adorned by several epigraphic bands, which represent poetic texts related to the subject of the painting, or provide information on the composition of the painting.

In Timurid times, it was customary to ask poets and historians for texts to fill in the epigraphic bands on buildings. See Lamia Balafej. The Making of the Artist in Late Timurid Painting. Edinburgh: Edinburgh University Press, 2019, 80
