Fantasizing
The world-famous artist Rembrandt (1606-1669) was twenty-eight years old when he made this little etching. It is an age of fantasizing, I imagine.
Two decades later, hence, at a much later stage of his life, he painted the scene several times, but very differently. The later images seem more depictions of theatre performances; hence, of the imagination of others, visible to others.
