While BT21 are designed by BTS themselves with professional help, the pictures on my laptop are made by an artist inspired by BTS. K-pop is not only media art, it is also physical art. Hybe Entertainment, the company behind BTS and other groups, completely embraces this idea. When they built the new company building, they didn’t just include dance practice rooms and recording studios, they also included a special place for fans to visit. This place is called Hybe Insight and is located under the company building.

In my opinion, Hybe Insight captures extremely well how K-pop is more than just music. At the museum you can listen to raw versions of popular songs, see iconic stage clothing that the artists have worn and even see things like the diplomatic passports BTS received from the Korean government (this was only a temporary exhibition but I was lucky enough to see it!). However, you can also see art collaborations, like light on music shows and the art collaboration from which I bought the stickers for my laptop.

This collaboration is called “the Seven Phases” and is a collaboration between BTS and James Jean. James Jean made 7 characters in his iconic style based on the 7 members of BTS. In Hybe Insight you can see different paintings with either just one character or all 7 together.
